Loan Deferments and Letters of Enrollment

Harvard Extension School submits students' enrollment information to the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC), which, in turn, supplies verification of enrollment to lending agencies. Many lenders and loan servicing organizations that are members of the NSC participate in a paperless deferment process. Students may continue to submit paper deferment forms if their loan servicer requires them. Students may deliver, mail, or fax their deferment forms to Academic Services, which then forwards the forms to the NSC for processing.

Students may request letters of enrollment for any term in the current academic year. Requests must be made in writing to Academic Services on forms which may be downloaded from this website. (To download PDFs students must have Adobe's Acrobat Reader installed on their computers.) Forms are also available at 51 Brattle Street. Letters of enrollment are not issued for students who have not met their financial obligations to Harvard University.

While requests for letters of enrollment including loan deferments may be submitted throughout the term, they are not processed until after October 12 in the fall and February 22 in the spring.
