This course develops students' competency in spoken and written Irish, and enhances confidence and proficiency in reading and listening comprehension. We review and reinforce the grammar and vocabulary learned in the first year, as well as covering more advanced elements. Irish traditions, proverbs, songs, and stories drawn from Ireland's rich heritage of folklore deepen our understanding of Irish culture and language. Prerequisite: one year of Irish instruction.

Oral and aural competency is our main goal, and a large part of each class is devoted to conversational practice. In addition, we continue our grammar study and enrich our store of Irish idiom. As always, we continue to enjoy the wealth of proverbs, poems, and songs, and we read excerpts from some of the classic novels, autobiographies, and stories. Prerequisite: CELT E-12a or equivalent.
