Writing Program courses are listed below.
The Writing Program offers creative, expository,
and professional writing courses in which students work to improve their skills by reading examples of good prose or poetry, writing their own works, and discussing them in a workshop
format. The Writing Program also sponsors a magazine of student work. Writing-intensive courses that help develop writing skills appropriate to a specific discipline are marked by a W in the course number. Instructors in these
writing-intensive courses assign short writing exercises or drafts, emphasize revision, and teach the core skills of academic writing in their disciplines, including analysis, argument, and the proper
use of sources.
Writing courses require proficiency in the English language. Students who do not meet the English proficiency requirement will be withdrawn from their writing courses by
the Registrar. Students whose primary language is not English should see Harvard University English Language Placement Test information.
For
more information on writing courses, students should contact the Writing Program Office.
