This course is an introduction to conversational and written Portuguese for students with no knowledge of the language. Classroom activities emphasize the acquisition of fundamental communication skills: understanding, speaking, reading, and writing. Classes are highly interactive. Students will also become acquainted with the diverse cultures of the Portuguese-speaking world.

This course is designed to stress the continued acquisition of spoken and written Portuguese covered in PORT E-1a in order for the student to achieve greater fluency in the language. Classroom activities will be interactive, and will emphasize music, food, and various other cultural components for a fuller understanding of the Portuguese-speaking world. Prerequisite: PORT E-1a or equivalent.
